Training: Challenge Ropes-Course (universal accessible)

Our German member Seilschaft UG from the ERCA working group "Inclusion" started building a ropes course in 2011 that is suitable for disabled people but not barrier-free, together with the DPSG Paderborn to develop offers that, for example, also integrate the experience of various high activities for wheelchair users and people without disabilities. However, the ropes course is not primarily made accessible for people with disabilities by its structure, but rather by the safety and (special) educational training of the instructors. This training course, which is aimed exclusively at experienced ropes course instructors from the field of traditional ropes courses, is about gaining your own experience and acquiring the necessary knowledge on the various topics according to the guiding principles developed by the ERCA working group "Inclusion".

• “Disability” – what is it? Who are we actually talking about? – what do we need to know about it.
• Possibilities and limitations in working with people with disabilities in ropes course programmes.
• Collaborative team work required in between: instructors, educators, special education teachers, therapists, wheelchair technicians
• Not for the person with disabilities but with them.
• Ropes courses are not barrier-free – how does a wheelchair user, for example, get up there?
• Technical simplification as a guiding principle in safety-related applications.
