ERCA - Training Syllabus for all Permanent Ropes Courses

This syllabus provides information for instructor training on permanent and temporary Ropes Courses (RC). The content is consistent with the “ERCA Professional Standards”.

The syllabus describes course aims and objectives, content, methods of teaching, course duration, as well as assessment criteria.

In practice, there are four well established operating models and two of these are covered within the scope of ERCA`s training syllabus for permanent RC; notably, Adventure Parks (AP), Traditional RC (TradRC) and Temporary RC - mobile RC are not covered within the current syllabus.

This revised edition combines the German Ropes Course Association (GRCA) standards from 2003 with the latest  amendments as agreed by the European Ropes Course Associationin 2006. The ERCA standards are the professional standards for mobile and permanent ropes courses in Europe.   

The standards consist of fundamental ethical principles and current basic requirements for building safe and high-quality ropes courses, for technical inspections and for operating ropes courses as well as guidelines for the training and professional development of ropes course facilitators.
